Parent Communication
Parent communication is vital to the success of our students. I have used newsletters, agendas, homework packets, parent phone calls and conferences. I believe that it is imperative to inform the parents of both good behavior and bad behavior to establish a good relationship with the student’s parents. I try to get the parents to stay involved in their student's class work. If the parents are involved, they are more likely to help their child succeed in their education process. It is essential for the parents to be up to date on school events, homework assignments, field trips and curriculum. I also keep track of my parent communication so I can have data to refer back to it on a parent communication log. Parents will understand that together we are a team to make the best decisions for each individual student.
I plan on adopting a Daily Reading Log and Writing Log for my students. The Reading Log was something used by one of my child's teacher in Finland and I really felt it was helpful for the teacher to see on a daily basis and both the teacher and parents record in it.
